Our Theme for 2011:  People of God in the Word

St. Paul wrote to the Thessalonian Christians: “because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake” (1 Thess. 1:5). We are convinced that the strength of the church, as well as that of the family and all other communities, depends on Christian men who fulfill their God-given callings in life.

Listed below are many opportunities for men to gather together for fellowship, both through the Word, but also through the enjoyment of common interests such as basketball, softball, etc.  Have fun looking around!

4th Annual Men’s Retreat

Put it on your calendar today, and plan to attend this year’s Men’s Retreat at Camp LoneStar. We’ve improved the retreat each year based on the feedback of participants, and this year will be no exception.

Participants will enjoy lodging in the beautiful Johnson Retreat Center, overlooking the pond. We will head out on Friday evening, May 13th, and will return after Worship on Sunday, May 15th.

The men’s softball team at Mt. Calvary plays on Friday nights in the spring (beginning in March) and fall (beginning in Septemeber). We play our games at Alva Jo Fischer complex located at 10700 Nacogdoches. If softball is your thing, just let Jim Koenig know and he’ll make sure you are included in the next season. This is also a great opportunity for affordable family entertainment. We’re always fun to watch and may be the cheapest ticket in town—adult admission is $1. Our spring schedule will be posted as soon as it is released.

We are hoping to have a coed softball team this coming summer, also playing games at Alva Jo Fischer softball complex on Friday nights. This would be a great time for family fun, or to just enjoy the fellowship of a mixed group. At this point we are especially in need of females.

Pick Up Basketball

Are you a bleacher creature, someone who loves going to basketball games? Then don’t miss an opportunity to watch Mt. Calvary’s own Saints, coached by Mt. Calvary ’s newest member, Scott Sefton, as they dribble, and pass and shoot their way to Victory! Games are held at Trinity Baptist Church (319 E. Mulberry, the gym is located behind the church) on Thursday nights, and there is no cost—what a deal!!
